OC's Back to School Bash: Showing Up for Our Community
Our Back to School Bash brought families together for an evening of community, family fun, and support ahead of the new school year. From the petting zoo and bounce houses to face painting, fairy hair, and fresh haircuts, the night was filled with opportunities to connect and serve our neighbors.
Starting a new school year can bring excitement, but it can also come with added expenses and uncertainty for many families. Our goal was to help meet those needs, ease some of that stress, and remind students and their families that they are supported by a community that cares.
Together, we distributed 300 hygiene bags and thousands of school supplies, along with additional essentials like shampoo and conditioner. Families also received hundreds of items generously provided by Mary Square.
Romeo’s Pizza served 500 plates of pizza, and Squeeze the Day Lemonade provided 350 cups of lemonade. Flores the Barber and Mandy from Hair on Main offered free haircuts to help students feel confident heading back to school.
We are also grateful to Harvestlore Homestead, Stark Rentals, Genlo Balloons, Face Fairy, and HeartsOfHope5k for helping make the evening possible. To every volunteer, partner, donor, and person who showed up to serve, thank you for helping us love our community so well.
The Lord is faithful, and His goodness was evident throughout the evening. We are continuing to pray over every child, school, teacher, and family as they head into a new school year, trusting that He will guide and provide for them in the months ahead.
Thank you for being part of this special night and helping us share the love of Jesus with our community. Stay tuned for more community events and opportunities to serve with OneCompassion!
