What exactly is our Holiday Ministry?

As we approach the holiday season, we are excited to begin our Holiday Ministry efforts here at OneCompassion. The vision of Holiday Ministry is that no family in Johnston County goes without a Christmas. We want families to experience the joy of giving and receiving grace and compassion just as we have.

How Holiday Ministry works:

  1. Deserving families in the Johnston County area are nominated from our local community to allow us to partner with them.

  2. We communicate with these families to ensure that we can serve them in the most accommodating way possible.

  3. We invite our local community into these efforts by opening up the opportunity to adopt a family. This looks like coming alongside a family and supplying them with the clothing, gifts and the groceries they need.

  4. We also invite our local community to volunteer their time to help shop for each individual family and then deliver these items to each family.

  5. Each family will receive specific gifts, clothing, groceries and household items based on the needs of each family.

  6. This ministry is also used as a vessel to share the Gospel with each of these families. Each family will receive a Happy Birthday Jesus Cake Kit that shares the Gospel story through a family friendly activity. We also provide each family with an NIV Bible and Childrens Bible.

As we come alongside these families, the burden of the holiday season is lifted and the light Jesus can shine through. This year we will serve 160 families in the Johnston County area.

We believe that the Lord would work through each interaction that takes place. We pray that this ministry would be a vessel so that those who do not know Jesus would come to have a relationship with Him. Ephesians 3:20 says “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” The Holy Spirit is on the move this Holiday season and we are thankful that God is using OneCompassion to glorify His name.

We appreciate your prayers over the ministry, team, volunteers, and families as we head into the Holiday Season.
