What is Christmas in July?

Hello everyone!

You may or may not have heard of Christmas in July, OneCompassion’s annual back-to-school ministry. Whether you’re new to it or just want to learn more, we’re excited to share what it’s all about!

Each summer, OneCompassion hosts Christmas in July to support families across Johnston County by providing essential school supplies, clothing, and food as they prepare for the new school year.

This year, we are honored to serve 75 families and over 200 children, equipping them with the tools they need to start the academic year with confidence.

That’s the basic overview, but Christmas in July is so much more than just supplies.

Every ministry effort at OneCompassion is rooted in a greater mission: to point people to Jesus. He is the heart behind all we do. Without Him, none of this would be possible.

It’s a true blessing to serve families in our community, offering not only practical support but also hope, prayer, and encouragement. Hearing their stories and lifting them up in prayer is one of the most meaningful parts of this ministry.

As we approach mid-June, we’re kicking off preparations for this year’s outreach. Volunteer sign-ups are now live, and we would love for you to be part of this mission! Right now, our greatest need is for delivery drivers.

Volunteer groups will be delivering bins of clothing, food, and school supplies on July 17 and 18. Along with each delivery, we have the special opportunity to pray with families (if they’d like) and continue building lasting relationships within our community.

If you’re available to serve, we’d love to have you on the team! You can find sign-up links on our social media channels or in your email inbox.

Most importantly, we ask for your prayers. While we’re grateful to meet physical needs, our ultimate goal is to share the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your continued support,
The OneCompassion Team
