Our Heart Behind OneTable
Our Heart Behind OneTable
Hello, friends!
Welcome back to the OneCompassion blog—we’re so glad you’re here.
OneTable is OneCompassion’s monthly community meal, open and free to anyone who wants to join. More than just a meal, it's a space where people from all walks of life can come together, share food, and build meaningful connections—often with those they might not otherwise cross paths with.
Throughout the Bible, we see how Jesus used meals as a powerful way to minister to others and foster deep relationships. Across cultures, food is a universal language of unity. Everyone needs to eat, and everyone longs for connection—making a shared meal the perfect place to bring people together.
In Luke 19:
We see Jesus invite himself to dinner with Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector shunned by his community. Zacchaeus had climbed a sycamore tree just to catch a glimpse of Jesus through the crowd. And Jesus, full of compassion and humility, saw him—and chose to spend time with him in his home, over a meal.
In Luke 22:
We witness the Last Supper, where Jesus shared a final meal with his closest friends—including Judas, who would betray him. During this sacred gathering, Jesus established communion by breaking bread and sharing wine, symbolizing the sacrifice he was about to make for all of humanity.
OneTable is especially close to our hearts here at OneCompassion. It allows us to not only build relationships within our town but also serve our neighbors with love and humility. Service was another central way Jesus reached people.
In John 13:
Jesus washed the feet of his disciples—a profound act of love and service. The King of Kings knelt to serve, setting an example for all of us. This same spirit of humble service is what drives our team every time we host OneTable.
Sometimes, we partner with other local nonprofits during OneTable to help amplify their mission alongside ours. Supporting and uplifting fellow organizations strengthens our entire community—and that’s something we’re deeply committed to.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. We hope to see you at the table soon.
With gratitude,
The OneCompassion Team
